FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: the 7th Koh Samui Reggae Pub Charity Midnight Run
Koh Samui holds 7th charity Midnight Run, set to attract up to 2,000 spectators and become one of Thailand’s annual sporting and social events
Usually when people think of Koh Samui they’re thinking about hedonism: blue seas, skies and plenty of partying. But increasingly the island is getting a cachet for sporting activities. Following the triathlon, a new race is shortly to be inaugurated with the aim of it becoming a fixture: the Midnight Run.
The Midnight Run is organized by the Thai Hotel Association (THA) and the Thai Association of Koh Samui (TAKS) and the 6th edition run will take place on Saturday 6th April 2019 in Chaweng.
Starting at midnight, the race begins and finishes at the landmark Koh Samui bar, The Reggae Pub, which is situated on the banks of Chaweng Lake. It’s right in the heart of the action and the race will be definitely urban, with a choice of either one loop for 5 kilometers or two loops for 10 kilometers, before ending up again at the Reggae Pub.
The course is in the island’s largest town, Chaweng, and starts at the Reggae Pub, then follows the Chaweng lake road, into Chaweng beach road, through the Soi Green Mango & The Sound Club, back onto the main road to turn right at the Try Out clothes shop, then back to the lake with the finishing line at the Reggae Pub.
Runners are expected to come from Koh Samui and from around Thailand. If they desire, runners can run as a family and fancy dress is encouraged. The event is expected to attract tourists, locals and those working for hotels that are sponsoring the event.
Ample media coverage is guaranteed and two charities will benefit: Koh Samui’s new School for Autistic Children and the Green Project supported by the Hotel Associations.
Sponsors are welcome but need to be on board by 20th February 2019. Two sponsorship packages are available:
1. The first package costs 15,000 Baht with 10 free registrations.
2. The second package costs 20,000 Baht with 20 free registrations.
The Mayor of Koh Samui together with Khun Pee Sak the owner of the Reggae Pub, the presidents of the THA and the TAKS, along with the PR team of Bangkok Airways and all the participating sponsors will be at the race to hand out trophies and awards to the winners.
The cost of participation is 500 Baht (without Grand Raffle Participation) or 1,000 Baht per person including a Grand Raffle Participation for the 5km or 10km Run, if booked prior, or 1,500 Baht on race day. If booked prior, payment can be made at Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa, Bophut beach (tel: 077 425 085).
